Former Newcastle defender Warren Barton suffered a head injury after being struck by a bottle while commentating on Colombia's World Cup victory over Uzbekistan.

Former Premier League defender Warren Barton was left bloodied after being struck by a bottle while working as a commentator at the World Cup.
The 57-year-old was covering Colombia's dramatic 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan for Fox Sports alongside broadcaster Jacqui Oatley when the incident occurred.
Celebrations inside the stadium became chaotic, with Barton first being soaked by drinks thrown from the stands before later being hit by a flying bottle.
Barton reveals injury after match
Following the final whistle, Barton shared an image showing a cut on his forehead and visible traces of blood.
He later posted on social media:
"Great game tonight except from being hit by a bottle."
Despite the injury, Barton completed the broadcast.
Oatley describes dramatic scene
Lead commentator Jacqui Oatley witnessed the incident from the commentary position.
"Getting drenched in beer while commentating on a goal and poor Warren Barton was whacked and cut in the head by a flying bottle."
"I heard him being hit and turned around to see blood trickling down his forehead."
She confirmed that Barton was able to continue despite the injury.
Oatley also revealed that a cameraman was injured during the match after an on-field collision.
Commentary continues despite injury
During the live broadcast, Oatley immediately noticed the injury.
"Warren's got an actual cut to the head, you're dripping with blood."
Barton attempted to downplay the incident.
"Whatever it was, it was sharp, but I'm OK."
His reaction earned praise from supporters, with many comparing him to former England defender Terry Butcher, who famously continued playing despite suffering a serious head wound.
Colombia victory sparks wild celebrations
The dramatic atmosphere followed an entertaining World Cup encounter.
Daniel Muñoz gave Colombia the lead before Uzbekistan fought back with an equaliser after the hour mark.
Luis Díaz restored Colombia's advantage almost immediately, while Jaminton Campaz sealed the victory deep into stoppage time.
The result triggered huge celebrations among Colombian supporters, although the post-match scenes unfortunately ended with Barton becoming one of the unexpected stories of the evening.
