Dinamo Zagreb's players express frustration with refereeing decisions following a 2-2 draw with Monaco in the Champions League, feeling unfairly treated.
Dinamo Zagreb's players were left furious with referee Harm Osmers after squandering a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Monaco in the second round of the Champions League group stage.
The frustration reached its peak when captain Bruno Petković was brought down in the Monaco penalty area, but instead of a penalty, the German referee awarded a foul against Dinamo. To make matters worse, a similar incident in the 90th minute saw Osmers give a penalty to Monaco, allowing the visitors to snatch a draw.
Midfielder Martin Baturina voiced his confusion after the match: "I don’t understand the refereeing criteria. I asked the ref, if that wasn’t a penalty for Bruno, how was theirs? These decisions just don't make sense."
His teammate Josip Mišić echoed this sentiment, adding:
"They tell me Bruno's incident was the same as theirs. We’re a small club, and they can get away with doing this to us."
Dinamo now sit 28th in the overall rankings with just one point from two matches and will next travel to face Salzburg.
