West Ham will release Danny Ings, Aaron Cresswell, Vladimir Coufal, and Lukasz Fabianski this summer after a poor season, with the club planning a major squad overhaul.
West Ham United have officially begun their summer rebuild, confirming the departure of four senior players who have made over 800 appearances combined. Danny Ings, Aaron Cresswell, Vladimir Coufal, and Lukasz Fabianski will all leave at the end of the season as the club prepares for significant changes after a deeply disappointing Premier League campaign.
The Hammers sit in 17th place with just 37 points from 35 matches, barely clinging to top-flight survival. The managerial carousel has done little to help. Julen Lopetegui began the season in charge but was dismissed in January, with Graham Potter taking over. However, Potter has managed just three wins in 16 games, as the team continues to struggle on both ends of the pitch.
Despite spending over €150 million on new signings this season, few have lived up to expectations. Big-money arrivals such as Crysencio Summerville (€30m) and Niclas Füllkrug (also around €30m) have returned just four goals between them. The club’s most expensive signing, Max Kilman (€50m), has anchored a defence that ranks among the worst in the league.
While the exits of Ings, Cresswell, Coufal, and Fabianski mark the end of an era, they also reflect a larger strategic shift at West Ham. The club reportedly had options to extend some of these contracts, but has chosen instead to clear space and salaries ahead of a sweeping summer reset.
Further departures are expected as West Ham attempt to bounce back from one of their most underwhelming seasons in recent memory.
