West Ham United have turned their attention to RB Leipzig striker André Silva after their attempt to sign Aston Villa's Jhon Durán fell through, according to reports from German transfer experts Florian Plettenberg and Philipp Hinze.

Negotiations between the Hammers and Leipzig are reportedly at an advanced stage, with the East London club looking to secure the 29-year-old Portuguese forward on a six-month loan deal that includes an option to buy. Leipzig, eager to offload Silva after his underwhelming stint at the club, are open to the move, although discussions are ongoing regarding the player's high wages.

Silva's move from Eintracht Frankfurt to RB Leipzig in 2021 cost the German side €23 million, but the striker has failed to replicate the prolific form he displayed in Frankfurt, where he scored 28 Bundesliga goals in the 2020-21 season.

This season, Leipzig boss Marco Rose has used him sparingly, with Silva making 15 appearances across all competitions, scoring just once via a penalty in a DFB-Pokal victory over Kiel. His market value has plummeted from €45 million in 2021 to just €5 million today.

West Ham’s pursuit of Silva comes after their failed bid for Jhon Durán, with manager David Moyes keen to bolster his attacking options. The Hammers have struggled with inconsistency in front of goal and see Silva as a potential short-term fix for their problems.
