The Liverpool captain was seen speaking with Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Luís Campos after the match, but transfer speculation was not the topic of discussion.
Following Liverpool’s Champions League elimination at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield, Virgil van Dijk was spotted in conversation with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and sporting director Luís Campos. Given that Van Dijk’s contract expires this summer, speculation immediately arose regarding a potential free transfer to PSG. However, according to RMC Sport, the Dutch defender’s discussion had nothing to do with a move to Paris.
The conversation reportedly began between Al-Khelaifi and Van Dijk, who share a long-standing relationship, before Campos joined in.
The Liverpool captain took the opportunity to apologize for a comment he made during the first leg at the Parc des Princes, when he dismissed PSG’s complaints about a refereeing decision by telling Campos: “It’s not Ligue 1, bro.”
Van Dijk not only expressed regret for his remark but also praised PSG’s performance, telling Al-Khelaifi and Campos that Les Parisiens were the best team he had faced not just this season, but over the past three seasons.
According to RMC Sport, the trio then discussed other matters, with PSG’s leadership reportedly enjoying the exchange with the Liverpool captain.
