The first to reach the injured bird was team captain Gani Čatan. According to his account, the seagull showed no signs of life, so he instinctively began performing chest compressions. After about two minutes of resuscitation, the bird started moving its legs and eyes, eventually regaining consciousness.
The seagull was given water and then carried to the sideline, where it was handed over to medical staff. Čatan emphasized that he has no medical training and acted purely on instinct and a desire to save the animal.
