Jude Bellingham has sparked concern among Real Madrid supporters and the wider football public after sharing a striking photo on Instagram showing him wearing an oxygen mask, accompanied by the message: “Life goes on.”
The post appeared shortly after the 22-year-old was forced off injured in Real Madrid’s 2-1 league win over Rayo Vallecano. Bellingham left the pitch in the ninth minute, clearly in discomfort, and was replaced by Brahim Díaz.
Spanish media report that warning signs were visible even before kick-off. Bellingham was seen repeatedly holding his left thigh while arriving at the stadium and during the warm-up. Those concerns quickly proved justified once the match began.
A few hours after the game, Real Madrid confirmed the diagnosis following medical tests.
“Following today’s tests, Jude Bellingham has been diagnosed with a tear in the semitendinosus muscle of his left leg. His recovery will be monitored,” the club stated in its official medical report.
The injury is expected to rule Bellingham out for several important fixtures. He will miss upcoming La Liga matches against Valencia, Real Sociedad, Osasuna, and Getafe, and is also considered a major doubt for the Champions League knockout ties against Benfica.
This latest setback comes at a difficult time for the England international. Earlier in the season, Bellingham was already sidelined for weeks after undergoing shoulder surgery following the Club World Cup in the United States.
