With Luka Modrić set to leave Real Madrid this summer, several clubs are already lining up to sign the iconic Croatian midfielder ahead of what could be his final World Cup.

As Luka Modrić prepares to say goodbye to Real Madrid after more than a decade of glory, speculation is mounting over where the 39-year-old maestro might go next.

According to AS, Modrić will not extend his contract with Madrid this summer. But retirement isn’t on the cards just yet — especially with the 2026 World Cup still on his radar. Here are the most likely destinations for one of the game’s most admired midfielders.

1. Saudi Arabia
Clubs in the Saudi Pro League are expected to lead the race. Modrić has previously turned down massive offers, but with his Madrid chapter ending, the financial lure — and a lighter playing schedule — could now make sense. Al Nassr and Al Ittihad have both shown interest before.

2. MLS – United States
Major League Soccer is another strong option. The league is known for attracting veteran European stars, and Modrić’s intelligence and charisma would make him a huge draw. Inter Miami — already home to Messi, Busquets, and Alba — could be the perfect fit.

3. Dinamo Zagreb
There’s always the romantic return. Dinamo Zagreb would welcome him with open arms, and Croatian fans dream of seeing him end his career where it all began. Modrić has remained close to the club and the idea of returning home is never too far away.

4. Premier League – Reunion with an old rival?
While less likely, there’s speculation about a short-term deal with a Premier League side — possibly even Manchester City or a surprise return to England. Pep Guardiola has long admired Modrić’s style, and his experience could be invaluable for a club chasing silverware.

5. Serie A
Clubs like Juventus and Inter Milan have reportedly shown interest. Serie A could suit Modrić’s current tempo, and Italy has a strong track record of extending careers for elite veterans.

Wherever he goes, Modrić won’t just be a signing — he’ll be a symbol. And if this is truly his final chapter, it will be written on his terms.
