Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly considering selling his €30m luxury villa in Portugal due to privacy concerns, despite spending four years building it. The mansion could still host his wedding to Georgina Rodríguez before being put on the market.
Cristiano Ronaldo may be preparing to say goodbye to one of his most ambitious personal projects.
According to reports from Portugal, the 40-year-old superstar is considering abandoning and selling his €30 million dream villa in Cascais, despite spending almost four years and a fortune building it as his future retirement home.
Ronaldo bought a large plot of land in the exclusive Quinta da Marinha area in September 2022, in what was seen as a long-term plan to settle there with his family after ending his playing career.
The result is a spectacular eight-bedroom luxury mansion featuring an infinity pool, underground garage, private cinema, gym, indoor and outdoor pools, massage room, playground for his children and even a private beach.
The interior reportedly includes Italian marble, solid gold taps and a specially designed Louis Vuitton mural.
However, according to Portuguese TV show V+ Fama, Ronaldo is now seriously concerned about the lack of privacy at the property, which is located in one of the most exclusive — but also most exposed — coastal areas in Portugal, often called the “Portuguese Riviera”.
He reportedly tried to buy the neighbouring plot of land, owned by the five-star hotel The Oitavos, as well as part of the nearby golf course, in order to increase security and privacy — but both attempts were refused.
That rejection has apparently pushed Ronaldo to reconsider the entire project and look at selling the property, despite its emotional and financial value.
The villa could still host his wedding
In a surprising twist, the same reports claim that the villa could still play a major role in Ronaldo’s life — as the venue for his wedding to Georgina Rodríguez.
Ronaldo proposed to Georgina in August after more than nine years together, and it was initially believed the couple would marry after the 2026 World Cup in Funchal Cathedral in Madeira, followed by a reception in a luxury hotel.
Now, the Cascais mansion is being mentioned as a more private and intimate option for the ceremony.
If that happens, the event could serve as a wedding celebration, housewarming and farewell party — all in one.
A part of Ronaldo’s vast property empire
The Cascais villa is just one piece of Ronaldo’s enormous real estate portfolio.
He also owns a €6 million penthouse in Lisbon, a home in Madeira, a mansion in La Finca (Madrid), and a luxury villa in Turin from his Juventus days, among other properties.
Ronaldo recently spoke about his improvised and “not very romantic” proposal, which still included a €1.5 million ring, and admitted that the moment was spontaneous rather than planned.
“It was 1am, my daughters were sleeping. A friend gave me the ring, and suddenly my kids came in and said: ‘Daddy, you’re going to ask mum to marry you.’ That’s when I knew it was the right moment,” Ronaldo said.
Whether the Cascais palace becomes the stage for his wedding or ends up on the market, one thing is clear: even Ronaldo’s retirement plans come with blockbuster drama.
