Igor Tudor begins his Tottenham tenure by overhauling the coaching staff, with John Heitinga leaving after just 32 days amid Spurs’ poor Premier League run.
Igor Tudor has wasted little time reshaping Tottenham Hotspur’s backroom staff, with John Heitinga leaving the club just one month after joining.
The Croatian coach’s appointment marked not only a change in the dugout but also a broader restructuring behind the scenes. Tudor replaced Danish manager Thomas Frank, and several members of Frank’s coaching team have also departed.
Heitinga, who only signed a two-and-a-half-year contract last month, exits after just 32 days in north London. The former defender, who played for Ajax, Atlético Madrid, Everton and Fulham, had arrived with strong backing from Frank.
“John is a fantastic addition to our coaching staff. His ability, personality and character will add enormous value on and off the pitch,” Frank said in mid-January.
Poor form continues
Despite the optimism surrounding the changes, Tottenham’s on-field results have not improved. Spurs failed to win any of their last five Premier League matches, losing three and drawing two.
The disappointing run has increased pressure on the new management structure, with Tudor tasked not only with stabilising performances but also restoring confidence within the squad.
New faces in the dugout
With Heitinga, Justin Cochrane and Chris Haslam all leaving, Tudor has brought in three new members of his own staff.
English media report that he will work alongside Croatian coaches Ivan Javorčić and Tomislav Rogić, as well as fitness specialist Riccardo Ragnacci.
The changes underline Tudor’s intention to build a technical team aligned with his philosophy as he attempts to revive Tottenham’s campaign. Whether the structural reset translates into results on the pitch remains the key question in the weeks ahead.
