Wrexham secured Championship promotion under Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, with the Premier League now firmly in their sights.
Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds declared that the club’s “impossible dream” is now to reach the Premier League, after securing a stunning third successive promotion with a 3-0 win over Charlton.
“Our goal is to make it to the Premier League,” Reynolds said, as he celebrated alongside Rob McElhenney in front of euphoric fans at the Racecourse Ground. “It just seemed like an impossible dream, but here we are."
Reflecting on Wrexham's extraordinary rise, Reynolds added: "You can look at so many beating hearts at this club and it all starts with Phil Parkinson. The passion and transformation in this community is speechless."
The Hollywood-backed club’s incredible story continues, with promotion from non-league to the Championship achieved in just three seasons. Manager Phil Parkinson masterminded the journey, delivering his sixth career promotion and capturing the attention of millions through the Disney+ documentary "Welcome to Wrexham".
Two early goals from Ollie Rathbone and Sam Smith put Wrexham in control against Charlton, before Smith sealed the victory with a second-half header. Wrexham now look forward to hosting Championship sides such as Ipswich Town and Leicester City next season.
Reynolds, who even served drinks at the famous 'Turf' pub before the match, has turned a once-struggling club into a global sensation. “Without history, none of this would be possible,” he said, referencing the club’s past, including Mickey Thomas' legendary free-kick against Arsenal.
While the cameras rolled and the champagne flowed, Wrexham's mission was clear: the dream doesn’t stop at the Championship. As Reynolds put it simply: “We’re not done yet.”
