Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are set to earn a major TV revenue boost after Wrexham sealed promotion to the Championship with a 3-0 win over Charlton.

Wrexham have secured their third successive promotion, and owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are in line for a major financial reward as the club heads to the Championship.

Phil Parkinson’s side confirmed promotion with a dominant 3-0 victory over Charlton Athletic on Saturday, extending their unbeaten run to nine games. Their triumph means Reynolds and McElhenney are set to receive an £8 million boost in TV revenue as Wrexham joins the lucrative Championship broadcasting deal.

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire recently explained the figures to talkSPORT: "Wrexham made three times more money than any club in League Two, more than any club in League One, and would actually sit in the top half of the Championship in terms of revenue."

"Their ability to become an international brand has been key, driven by the success of their documentary. I was teaching in Charlotte, Carolina, last year and the only football shirts I saw were Wrexham's. It's an incredible achievement."

Wrexham’s back-to-back promotions from the National League and League Two have transformed the club’s fortunes. After finishing second behind Stockport last season, they have now guaranteed an even higher points tally in League One — though they remain well behind runaway leaders Birmingham City.

Building success:
Smart summer recruitment played a major role in Wrexham’s rise. Ollie Rathbone, a former Manchester United academy talent, opened the scoring against Charlton before January signing Sam Smith struck twice to seal the win.

All three promotions have come under the leadership of Phil Parkinson, with co-owner Ryan Reynolds quick to heap praise on his manager: "You can look at so many beating hearts at this club and it all starts with Phil," he said.

As Wrexham prepare for life in the Championship, the story that started as a Hollywood fairy tale now feels like just the beginning of something even bigger.
