Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso praised Federico Valverde after his goal vs. Pachuca, comparing the Uruguayan to Steven Gerrard and calling him a player every coach would want.
Federico Valverde continues to earn admiration from within the Real Madrid camp, with head coach Xabi Alonso drawing high praise for the Uruguayan midfielder after a standout performance in the 3-1 Club World Cup win over Pachuca.

“Honestly, I haven’t seen many players with such physical capacity,” Alonso said. “He reminds me of Steven Gerrard—he covers huge areas, has that direct penetration and a powerful shot from distance.”
“He can also play wide on the right, he adapts to every position without fuss. I’m sure every coach in the world would want a player like Fede Valverde. His determination is incredible.”
Valverde, 25, has become a key figure for Real Madrid in recent years thanks to his work rate, versatility, and ability to perform in multiple midfield and wide roles.
