Tottenham are reportedly eyeing former Barcelona coach Xavi Hernández amid growing frustration with Thomas Frank, as the club struggles to find identity and consistency in the Premier League.

Xavi Hernández could make a sensational return to football management — this time in the Premier League. According to British reports, Tottenham Hotspur are seriously considering the former Barcelona boss as doubts grow over the future of their current manager, Thomas Frank.

Tottenham’s season has been disappointing so far, with the club sitting only 11th after 16 rounds. Frank, who took charge in the summer, has been unable to establish a clear playing style, leaving both fans and the board dissatisfied. For a club aiming to compete consistently in England and Europe, the current stagnation is seen as unacceptable.

In this context, Xavi has emerged as an intriguing candidate. The 44-year-old Spaniard, who led Barcelona to the La Liga title in 2023, is currently without a club. His strong football philosophy, focus on possession-based play, and leadership reputation are seen as ideal for restoring Tottenham’s long-term vision.

Xavi began his managerial career at Al-Sadd in Qatar before taking over at Barcelona, where he guided the club through a turbulent financial and competitive period. After stepping down in 2024, he publicly stated his readiness for a new challenge — and England could be next.

Manchester United reportedly considered Xavi earlier this year after parting ways with Erik ten Hag, though no formal offer materialised. The Spaniard was also linked with Ajax and Bayer Leverkusen before those clubs made other appointments. Most recently, he rejected an approach from Russian giants Spartak Moscow.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have struggled to find stability since the departure of Mauricio Pochettino in 2019. The club has gone through four managers — José Mourinho, Nuno Espírito Santo, Antonio Conte, and Ange Postecoglou — with mixed results. Conte remains the most successful in recent years, having guided Spurs to a top-four finish before leaving amid internal disagreements.

Now, with the team once again drifting in mid-table and criticism mounting, chairman Daniel Levy is reportedly open to a “bold appointment” that could reshape Tottenham’s future. For many, Xavi represents just that — a coach capable of bringing back style, authority, and long-term planning.
