Xavi has expressed his desire to work in the Premier League as Chelsea begin their search for a new manager following Liam Rosenior’s dismissal after a poor run.

Chelsea have moved quickly after sacking Liam Rosenior, and Xavi has already emerged as one of the leading candidates for the role.

The decision to part ways with Rosenior came just three months after his appointment on January 6, despite signing a long-term contract.

A run of five consecutive league defeats without scoring, the club’s worst streak since 1912, forced the club to act.

Now, attention has turned to potential replacements, with Xavi openly stating his interest in a move to the Premier League.

Speaking previously about his future, the former Barcelona coach made his intentions clear.

"Of course. Where, I don't know. There's no hurry, but I'd like a good project. I'd love to work in the Premier League because I love the passion there," he said.

Xavi also pointed to the importance of long-term planning, highlighting the example of Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.

"Arteta is in his sixth year. There were difficult moments, but the club trusted the process. That doesn't happen in Spain," he added.

Chelsea are now looking for stability after cycling through multiple managers since 2023, and the next appointment is expected to be crucial.

The club currently sit eighth in the Premier League following a heavy defeat to Brighton, which confirmed Rosenior’s exit.

In an official statement, Chelsea explained the decision.

"This was not taken lightly, but recent results and performances have fallen below the required standards. We wish Liam every success in the future," the club said.

Calum McFarlane will take temporary charge for the upcoming FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United.

Alongside Xavi, other names under consideration include Cesc Fàbregas, Andoni Iraola, and Marco Silva.

Chelsea have made it clear their goal is to secure European qualification and progress in the FA Cup, while also conducting a full review before appointing their next manager.
