Barcelona star Lamine Yamal, still without a driving licence at 18, revealed which car he plans to buy once he finally passes his test.
Lamine Yamal, now 18 and one of Barcelona’s brightest young stars, still hasn’t taken his driving test despite being old enough to do so. Last July, rumours circulated that he would travel to Cuenca to obtain his licence at a well-known driving school used by many celebrities, but the winger still doesn’t have permission to drive.
During the summer, Yamal was the only Barcelona player who did not receive a new Cupra — the club’s sponsor — and he addressed the situation in an interview with CBS News. Asked about his first car, he said he had no intention of spending a fortune on a luxury SUV.
“My first car won’t be a Lamborghini. I’d be happy with an Audi, a Mercedes or a Cupra,” Yamal said.
He admitted he is eager to finally “feel that freedom of driving on my own.” Until recently, Yamal was driven to Barcelona training sessions by his former girlfriend Nicki Nicole, but the couple split not long ago.
Looking ahead, he says his first car will be something simple and enjoyable.
“My car will be the one all my friends want and the one I can enjoy,” he said.
Fans will simply have to wait until Yamal completes his driving test to see which model he eventually chooses.
