Real Madrid are reportedly closing in on one of the biggest transfers of the summer, with Yan Diomande set to become the latest addition to José Mourinho's squad.
According to Sky Germany, the Spanish giants have reached the final stages of negotiations with RB Leipzig for the highly rated 19-year-old, with the total value of the deal potentially reaching an astonishing €140 million.
A record-breaking package
The report claims Leipzig will receive a guaranteed €125 million, while relatively achievable bonuses could increase the fee to €135 million.
A further €5 million is reportedly tied to more demanding performance-related clauses, taking the overall package close to €140 million.
If completed under those terms, the deal would rank among the most expensive transfers in Bundesliga history.
Leganés also benefit
Spanish club Leganés are also set to profit from the move.
The club reportedly retained a five percent sell-on clause when they sold Diomande to Leipzig after signing him from the United States last year.
Leganés initially paid a modest fee before selling the winger to the German side for around €20 million only a few months later.
Rapid rise to the top
Diomande's development has been spectacular.
Despite making fewer than 50 senior league appearances during his professional career, he has already established himself as one of Europe's most exciting young attackers.
He made 36 appearances for Leipzig, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists.
The Ivory Coast international also became a regular for his national team last year and featured at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Questions over the price
Although Diomande is regarded as one of football's brightest young prospects, the reported transfer fee has sparked debate.
Many observers believe Real Madrid are paying a premium for a player still at the beginning of his career.
Official confirmation has yet to arrive, but if the deal is completed, Mourinho will receive another elite young talent as Real Madrid continue one of the most aggressive transfer windows in Europe.
