Former Manchester City star Yaya Toure revealed Arsenal remains his dream club, recalling his unforgettable trial at Highbury and admiration for Patrick Vieira.
Yaya Toure has made a surprising admission that will surely sting Manchester City fans. Despite his legendary status at the Etihad, the former midfielder revealed that Arsenal remains his dream club.
In a recent interview, the Ivory Coast legend reflected on his early career and shared memories of his trial at Arsenal—an experience that left a deep impression even after two decades.
“When I was on trial, I was lucky enough to share the dressing room with one of my idols, Patrick Vieira. It was that invincible Arsenal team, they were all there,” Toure said.
“When I went to Highbury, I'll never be able to forget it. I told myself that one day I would have to come to this club, but it didn't happen, unfortunately.”
Despite carving out a stellar career elsewhere—including three Premier League titles and an unforgettable eight-year spell at Manchester City—Toure admitted that the dream of wearing the Arsenal shirt never fully left him.
Today, the 41-year-old is part of the coaching staff in Saudi Arabia. His illustrious playing career saw him feature for clubs across Europe, including Barcelona, Monaco, Olympiacos, and Metalurh Donetsk, before his transformative move to Manchester City in 2010 for €30 million.
He ended his playing days with Huanghai in China in 2020, leaving behind a remarkable legacy at both club and international level, where he earned 97 caps and scored 19 goals for the Ivory Coast national team.
Even after all his success, Toure’s words show that some dreams never quite fade—no matter how decorated the career.
