Brighton and Newcastle are reportedly ready to pay €24 million for AIK teenager Zadok Yohanna, a fee that would break a Swedish record.
Swedish football could soon witness another record-breaking transfer as Zadok Yohanna moves closer to a high-profile switch to the Premier League.
The 18-year-old Nigerian winger has enjoyed a remarkable rise since joining AIK from Ikon Allah FA last summer and is already attracting interest from some of England's biggest clubs.
According to reports, both Brighton and Newcastle United are prepared to pay around €24 million to secure his signature.
If completed, the deal would establish a new record sale from the Swedish league.
Sensational first season in Europe
Yohanna wasted little time adapting to European football.
In just 12 appearances, the teenager contributed a combined total of nine goals and assists, quickly becoming one of the most exciting young players in Scandinavia.
His pace, direct running and ability to influence matches in the final third have drawn attention from scouts across Europe.
Now it appears the Premier League could become his next destination.
Swedish clubs continue producing major sales
The transfer would surpass the previous Swedish record set in 2024, when Djurgården sold Lucas Bergvall for approximately €20 million.
Bergvall's move was widely viewed as a landmark moment for Swedish football, but Yohanna's transfer could raise the bar even further.
The second-largest recent sale from the Swedish league involved Adrian Lahdo, who left Hammarby for Como in a deal worth just over €11 million.
A new era for Swedish football exports
One trend stands out clearly.
The five biggest transfers in Swedish league history have all occurred within the last three years, highlighting the growing reputation of the competition as a platform for young talent.
Further down the list are two famous names.
Alexander Isak left AIK for Borussia Dortmund as a teenager in a deal worth around €8.6 million, while Zlatan Ibrahimović moved from Malmö FF to Ajax for approximately €7.8 million in 2001.
If Yohanna completes his move, he will not only break a record but also join a growing list of players who used Sweden as a launching pad toward the highest level of European football.
