Žan Vipotnik leads the Championship scoring race and is close to becoming Swansea’s best striker in 15 years, with only two players ahead of him.

Žan Vipotnik is moving toward a historic milestone at Swansea City, continuing his outstanding season in the Championship.

The Slovenian striker confirmed his form again after the international break, playing a key role in the 2-2 draw against Middlesbrough.

Vipotnik scored two penalties in that match, showing composure and reliability from the spot, while strengthening his position at the top of the scoring charts.

With five matches remaining, the race for the Championship top scorer is already shaping clearly in his favor.

Vipotnik holds a four-goal lead over Haji Wright of Coventry City, while the rest of the field is further behind.

The current standings underline his dominance:

1. Žan Vipotnik (Swansea City) – 20 goals
2. Haji Wright (Coventry City) – 16
3. Jack Clarke (Ipswich Town) – 14
4. Oli McBurnie (Hull City) – 13
5. Joe Gelhardt (Hull City) – 13

Beyond the golden boot, Vipotnik is also chasing a place in Swansea history.

In the last 15 years, only two players have scored more goals for the club in a single Championship season.

Joel Piroe reached 22 goals in the 2021/22 season, while Oli McBurnie matched that number in 2018/19.

With 20 goals already, Vipotnik is now within reach of both records and has enough matches left to surpass them.

If he maintains his current form, the 24-year-old could soon become Swansea’s most prolific striker of the modern era.

For now, he remains firmly in control of the scoring race and one step away from writing his name into the club’s history.
