Žan Vipotnik scored twice for Swansea City, including a free kick, to move clear at the top of the Championship scoring charts with 15 goals.
Slovenian international Žan Vipotnik is enjoying a season that shows no sign of slowing down. The Swansea City striker once again stole the spotlight, scoring twice in a commanding 4–0 home victory over Sheffield Wednesday.
The result lifted Swansea to 15th place in the EFL Championship, while Vipotnik strengthened his position at the top of the league’s scoring charts.
Goals in different ways
The 23-year-old netted Swansea’s second and third goals of the afternoon, underlining his versatility in front of goal.
His first came after a swift counter-attack, as Vipotnik showed sharp movement inside the penalty area before finishing calmly along the ground. The second was even more eye-catching — a direct free kick, struck with precision and confidence, demonstrating that his threat extends well beyond open play.
Clear at the top
With this brace, Vipotnik has now reached 15 goals for the season, moving clear at the top of the Championship’s top-scorer list. His consistent output has made him one of the most effective forwards in the division and a standout ambassador for Slovenian football abroad.
Swansea took full advantage against a struggling Sheffield Wednesday side, who remain rooted to the bottom of the table following a heavy points deduction due to financial issues. But the margin of victory owed much to Vipotnik’s clinical edge.
As the season progresses, the question is no longer whether Vipotnik can score in the Championship — but how far his goals can take Swansea, and whether his form will soon attract attention from clubs at a higher level.
