Former Maccabi Tel Aviv coach Žarko Lazetić is set to continue his career in Saudi Arabia after agreeing terms with Al Taawoun.

Žarko Lazetić is set to continue his managerial career in Saudi Arabia after reaching an agreement with
Al Taawoun.
The 43-year-old is expected to sign a one-year contract with the club, with only the official confirmation remaining before the appointment is finalised.
Lazetić will replace Brazilian coach Péricles Chamusca, who guided Al Taawoun to qualification for the next edition of the AFC Champions League Two during the previous season.
Saudi Arabia chosen over Europe
Before accepting the Saudi offer, Lazetić reportedly had another attractive option on the table.
The Serbian coach was linked with Bulgarian champions Ludogorets Razgrad, but ultimately decided that the Saudi project offered the most appealing next step in his career.
The move marks another significant chapter for a coach whose reputation has steadily grown over the last few years.
Success in Israel boosted his profile
Lazetić arrives in Saudi Arabia after an impressive spell with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
During his time in Israel, he won the league title, the national cup and the Toto Cup, establishing himself as one of the most successful Serbian coaches working abroad.
He also led Maccabi to the Europa League group stage on two occasions, achievements that attracted attention from clubs across several countries.
Strong reputation from Serbia and abroad
Before moving to Israel, Lazetić built his reputation in Serbian football with successful spells at TSC Bačka Topola and Metalac Gornji Milanovac.
His work at TSC in particular earned widespread praise, helping establish the club as one of the most competitive sides in Serbian football outside the traditional giants.
Now he faces a new challenge in one of the fastest-growing football markets in the world.
Al Taawoun's participation in continental competition next season will bring additional expectations, and the club will hope Lazetić can replicate the success he enjoyed in Israel.
