Zinedine Zidane has revealed he is ready to return to management, admitting his plan is to coach again soon — with France and Juventus both possible destinations.
After years away from the dugout, Zinedine Zidane has hinted that his managerial comeback is getting closer. The Real Madrid legend, who led the Spanish giants to an extraordinary run of success, has admitted he’s eager to coach again after a long period of rest.
“I will definitely come back and do the job of head coach again in the future. That’s my plan,” Zidane said in an interview. “Of course, one day I would like to manage the French national team, but we’ll see. And Juventus? It’s hard to say. It’s a club that’s close to my heart and has given me a lot.”
The Frenchman has been out of management since his second spell at Real Madrid ended in 2021. During his time in charge, Zidane won three consecutive Champions League titles, two La Liga championships, two UEFA Super Cups, and two Club World Cups — achievements that secured his status as one of the most successful coaches of the modern era.
Over the past few years, Zidane has been linked with several top jobs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and the French national team. The timing could now be perfect: Didier Deschamps is expected to step down after next year’s World Cup, and Kylian Mbappe has long described Zidane as “a god in France.”
At Juventus, where Zidane played between 1996 and 2001, Igor Tudor remains in charge and unbeaten in Serie A this season, but speculation about a potential reunion never completely fades. For now, Zidane seems open to both club and national opportunities — waiting for the right moment to return.
Meanwhile, at Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso has taken the reins and is impressing early in his tenure. But the shadow of Zidane — both as a player and coach — still looms large in Madrid, Turin, and Paris alike. Wherever he lands next, his comeback will be one of the most anticipated stories in world football.
