Villarreal’s Alex Baena rejected a lucrative move to Al Ahli despite a €55 million bid and a €15 million annual salary offer from Saudi Arabia.
Not every player can be bought with Saudi millions, and Alex Baena has made that clear. The Villarreal midfielder turned down a €15 million-per-season offer from Al Ahli, choosing to stay in La Liga instead.
The Saudi club was prepared to trigger Baena’s €55 million release clause, showing no financial restraints in their pursuit of the 23-year-old Spanish international. However, Baena had no interest in the move and dismissed the proposal without hesitation.
To further affirm his loyalty, Baena shared a photo on social media kissing Villarreal’s badge, sending a clear message that his heart remains with the Yellow Submarine.
