Marcus Rashford has received a major boost in his push to join Barcelona after new coach Hansi Flick reportedly approved a summer move, with Pini Zahavi leading negotiations.
Marcus Rashford’s hopes of sealing a summer move to Barcelona have been strengthened by reports that new manager Hansi Flick is eager to bring the Manchester United forward to Camp Nou.
Rashford has impressed during a six-month loan at Aston Villa, who have the option to sign him permanently for £40 million. However, the England international is believed to favour a transfer to Barcelona, the club he has long considered his “dream destination.”
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Rashford has teamed up with influential agent Pini Zahavi, who has close ties to Barça president Joan Laporta and also represents Hansi Flick. Now, Spanish journalist Fernando Polo reports that Flick is a long-time admirer of the 27-year-old and had even supported an approach for him back in January.
Zahavi is said to have informed the Catalan club that “a deal can be done” if they decide to pursue Rashford’s signature. Manchester United are open to selling Rashford permanently but could agree to a loan move with an obligation to buy – a structure that suits financially constrained Barça.
While the original price tag stood at £40 million, that figure could rise to £60 million if Aston Villa back out. Barcelona are reportedly hoping Rashford will accept a significant wage cut to push the move through.
Rashford’s form and versatility – playing across the front line – make him an attractive target for Barcelona as they aim to reinforce their squad under Flick. A formal decision from the club is expected in the coming weeks.
