La Masia’s top scorer, Roberto Tomas, has signed his first professional contract with Barcelona, committing his future to the club until 2028.
Roberto Tomas, one of the brightest prospects at La Masia, has signed his first professional contract with Barcelona after finishing the season as the academy’s top scorer.
The 16-year-old forward, currently in his third season at the club, has consistently impressed coaches with his performances. He scored 21 goals during his time with Infantil A, splitting his appearances between the No.9 role and attacking midfield.
Instead of a typical progression through Cadet B, Tomas was fast-tracked to Cadet A, where he adjusted quickly despite being younger than most of his teammates and opponents. This season, he played for both Cadet A and Juvenil B, netting 12 goals for the former and 10 for the latter.
Tomas, who turns 17 in February, is nearly 19 months younger than Lamine Yamal, Barcelona’s current first-team wonderkid. He will now step up to the U-18 squad and is under contract at the club until 2028.
Barcelona see him as a key part of their long-term plans, with expectations that he will eventually join the first team in the coming years.
