Kylian Mbappe delivered one of his worst performances since joining Real Madrid in a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Real Betis.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti later revealed that the French star had struggled throughout the week.
Mbappe, the club’s top scorer this season, was surprisingly substituted while Real Madrid was chasing an equalizer. Instead, 18-year-old Endrick was brought on.
"Kylian had a lot of problems with his teeth this week, so he hardly trained at all, and it showed in his performance. I didn't want to risk any further complications, so I preferred to pull him out of the game. I chose Endrick because he is in a very good dynamic at the moment," said Ancelotti.
The loss was a significant setback for Real Madrid, who could find themselves in third place before the next round of La Liga. Up next, they shift focus to the Champions League.
