Paulo Dybala says he would love to play in Argentina and admits he's a lifelong Boca Juniors fan, leaving the door open for a future move to La Bombonera.
Paulo Dybala has stirred excitement among Boca Juniors fans after admitting he would like to play in Argentina one day — and confirmed his long-standing affection for the Buenos Aires giants.
The 30-year-old Roma forward, born in Córdoba, spoke openly about his emotional ties to Boca, largely influenced by his late father, and hinted that a future move to La Bombonera is not off the table.
“I’d love to play in Argentina. I don’t know if it’ll ever happen, but the idea is always there,” Dybala told Los Edul. “I know Instituto fans want me back — I care about the club because that’s where my path to Europe began.”
Boca love runs in the family
While Dybala’s professional roots lie with Instituto de Córdoba, his heart has always leaned toward Boca, a passion inherited from his father.
“My dad was a Boca fan and had three sons. The two oldest were Independiente and River fans. I was the youngest, and I always followed my dad around. When Boca played in Córdoba, we went to the stadium,” he said.
Despite his devotion, Dybala has yet to attend a Boca match at La Bombonera, something he hopes to tick off soon. “I’ve seen childhood photos of myself in Boca shirts. The things Leandro [Paredes] says, the messages from fans… it’s exciting,” he added.
Paredes pushing for a Boca reunion
Dybala’s Roma and Argentina teammate Leandro Paredes, a former Boca player and die-hard fan, is reportedly pushing hard for a reunion at the club. According to Dybala’s partner Oriana Sabatini, Paredes has been planting the idea of both players finishing their careers together at Boca.
“That could get me in trouble — my whole family supports River!” Dybala joked.
While no immediate move is on the horizon — Dybala remains under contract in Europe — the comments have fueled speculation and excitement among Boca fans hoping to see “La Joya” fulfill a childhood dream.
