Dragan Stojković Piksi will continue as Serbia's head coach despite the team's early exit from the European Championship.
Dragan Stojković Piksi will remain the head coach of the Serbia national team even after their disappointing performance at the European Championship, where they were eliminated in the group stage.
Numerous scandals emerged within the national team, and there was speculation that many star players would refuse to play as long as Piksi remained the coach. However, a significant turnaround has occurred.
According to Mozzartsport and several other Serbian media outlets, Piksi will lead Serbia into the new season of the Nations League, starting in September.
This decision is expected to be confirmed at the Executive Board meeting of the Football Association of Serbia, scheduled for Friday.
Piksi has received support to continue his mandate, during which he led the Eagles to the World Cup in Qatar and the European Championship in Germany. His main goal will be to secure Serbia's participation in the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
It is worth noting that Stojković signed a new contract before Euro 2024, extending his tenure until 2026. However, this agreement came under scrutiny following the team's disappointing performance at the European Championship.
Serbia's first match in the Nations League will be in September against Spain, who will visit the Marakana.
