Guille Fernández becomes the youngest player to feature for Barcelona's B team, breaking the record previously held by prodigy Lamine Yamal, as the Fernández cousins make waves in La Masia.
La Masia is back in the spotlight. After the last golden generation of Barcelona, it took several years before a new group of extremely talented young players knocked on the doors of the first team, promising very bright futures. Now, the famous academy of the Catalan giant has produced a few jewels who are already playing significant roles in coach Xavi Hernandez's team.
Great things are expected from 16-year-old Lamine Yamal, who is already a regular in the starting lineup, along with Pau Cubarsi, Hector Fort, and Marc Guiu.
Now, Barcelona has in its B team the next great talent who has recently attracted a lot of attention and debuted as a 15-year-old. It's Guillermo “Guille” Fernández, who was even a few days younger at his debut than the aforementioned Lamine Yamal.
It's worth adding that his cousin, Toni Fernández (both born in 2008), is proving himself at Barcelona and is already a member of the U19 selection today.
