Spain's La Liga has become the main sponsor of a Welsh fifth-tier club, notable for having the longest official name in world football.
In an unusual and intriguing marketing move, La Liga has chosen to sponsor a club that doesn't necessarily have the potential to represent the Spanish football brand to a broad audience. Specifically, La Liga has become the official sponsor of a Welsh fifth-tier club known for its exceptionally long name: Clwb Pel Droed Llanfair¬pwllgwyngyll¬gogery¬chwyrn-drobwll¬llan¬tysilio¬gogo¬goch Football Club.
The club also goes by a shorter operational name, Llanfairpwll, but its full name is displayed on the club's crest.
"This is the most exciting partnership in our club's history. This sponsorship will allow us to grow both on and off the field. Securing a main sponsor is of immense significance, and with La Liga, we have found a partner with a rich history of football excellence," said the Welsh club's president, Samantha Jones-Smith.
