Man City fans have written an open letter to Pep Guardiola, asking him to intervene over season ticket availability and rising matchday costs.
Manchester City fans have written an open letter to Pep Guardiola, requesting “one more favour” from the club’s legendary manager amid growing concerns over ticket prices and accessibility.
City supporters have enjoyed an era of historic success under Guardiola, with a Treble secured and four consecutive Premier League titles added to their trophy cabinet. However, as the Etihad Stadium prepares for an expansion, fans fear that the next generation of supporters may be priced out.
Fan groups including 1894 Group, MCFC Food Bank Support, Solid Citizens and Trade Union Blues addressed the letter to Guardiola, praising his recognition of economic pressures while urging him to advocate for more affordable season tickets and matchday options.
"Pep, congratulations on leading us to another Wembley final. Before the Forest game you said you understood the fact that fans are facing economic pressures," the letter begins. "We ask you for one more favour. Can you speak with your good friend, club CEO Ferran Soriano?"
The fans highlighted that the club's decision to reduce season ticket availability and raise resale prices has hurt attendance and atmosphere, especially with an 8,000-seat expansion coming next season.
"Surely the most important thing is to ensure there are no empty seats inside the Etihad Stadium," the letter continued. "Make it easy for fans to attend and you will get full attendance. This also means more revenue for the club as fans spend more inside the stadium."
Concerns have grown after City failed to sell out their Wembley allocation for the FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest, with fans citing the growing costs of regular trips to London.
Supporters hope Guardiola’s influence will help convince the club’s hierarchy to create a more inclusive ticketing strategy that sustains the passionate atmosphere the manager so often praises.
