Michel Platini weighed in on Kylian Mbappé's poor form at Real Madrid, saying he "looks lost" on the pitch. However, the French legend believes the star will bounce back.
French football legend Michel Platini has shared his thoughts on Kylian Mbappé’s difficult start at Real Madrid, where the star forward has struggled to adapt to his new surroundings and role. The World Cup-winning striker of 2018 has yet to live up to expectations since leaving Paris Saint-Germain, with a significant dip in his performances.
Mbappé, who was expected to lead Real Madrid’s attack this season, has faced mounting criticism for his recent performances. The struggles were evident in the club’s recent 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the Champions League, where the Frenchman missed a penalty and failed to make a significant impact on the game.
Platini, speaking during an event at the National Sports Museum in Nice, didn’t hold back in his assessment of Mbappé’s form. While critical, he also expressed faith in the player’s ability to recover:
"I find him lost on the pitch. He doesn’t look comfortable at Real Madrid," said Platini. However, he added optimistically: "A great champion must always rise from the ashes. That is what will make Kylian a true champion. This is just a small slump, both for him and for French football."
Platini also pointed out that Mbappé was left out of the French national team for the last two FIFA international match windows, a situation that only adds to the forward's challenges. Despite this, the French icon is confident Mbappé will soon find his way back to top form.
