Rebekah Vardy, wife of footballer Jamie Vardy, has surprised fans by praising Coleen Rooney’s performance on I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, where Rooney finished as runner-up.
In a dramatic shift from their long-running feud, Vardy wrote in her The Sun column that it’s time to move on from their infamous “Wagatha Christie” saga.
Vardy’s Surprising Comments
Reflecting on Rooney’s jungle journey, Vardy stated:
“Coleen has had a fab series. She has really done well and made herself proud.”
Breaking from her previously critical stance, Vardy added: “Yes, I know you’re all waiting for me to say otherwise, I’m sorry to disappoint, but it’s just not happening.”
Vardy further emphasized her desire to end their feud, saying: “It’s really, really time to move on and end the year with a positive attitude.”
A Shift in Tone
Vardy’s comments mark a stark contrast to her earlier remarks about Rooney’s participation in the show. Just weeks ago, she had sarcastically wished to see Rooney “forced to eat bull’s penis, ostrich bum, and humble pie” and suggested that Rooney “always wanted my life.”
Their feud, which began in 2019 when Rooney accused Vardy’s Instagram account of leaking stories, escalated into the highly publicized “Wagatha Christie” High Court trial in 2022, which Vardy lost.
Coleen Rooney’s Jungle Journey
Rooney, 38, secured an impressive 44.8% of the public vote to finish second behind McFly’s Danny Jones in the finale, which drew over seven million viewers. Reflecting on the trial during her jungle stint, Rooney said:
“What got me, over the whole thing, was it became a bit of a joke, and that’s really disappointing, it wasn’t a joke for me.”
Her strong finish on the show has fueled speculation about future opportunities, with reports suggesting that ITV is considering her for a prominent daytime TV role.
