Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino has stepped down as Inter Miami’s head coach, citing personal reasons, after a successful season in the MLS regular season.

Gerardo "Tata" Martino, the Argentine coach who led Inter Miami to first place in the MLS regular season, has announced his departure from the club. Known for his strong rapport with players like Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Jordi Alba, Martino was a popular figure among fans and delivered strong results during his tenure.

In a surprising move, Martino confirmed that his decision to leave was made even before the playoffs began, but he refrained from announcing it earlier due to the team’s focus on competing for the title. He clarified that his departure is due to personal reasons, stating: "I’m leaving strictly because of personal reasons. It couldn’t be avoided. Next year, I won’t return, as I have urgent matters to address in Rosario. The decision was made before the playoffs, but I didn’t announce it because we were fully committed to the fight for the title."

Martino also revealed that he does not plan to coach any club in 2025, and while his future beyond that remains uncertain, he does not envision returning to Argentine football. With a storied career that includes managing clubs across South America and serving as head coach for Mexico, Argentina, and Paraguay, Martino’s experience in European football is limited to a single season with Barcelona in 2013/14.

Inter Miami now faces the challenge of finding a successor capable of leading their star-studded squad into the new season. With Messi, Suarez, and Alba on the roster, the spotlight will be on Miami as they attempt to maintain their momentum under new leadership.
