Dani Olmo's career remains plagued by injuries, with more than 75 matches missed in four seasons—his current spell at Barcelona no exception.
The Spanish international has once again found himself sidelined, this time after picking up a new injury against Osasuna, which early reports suggest could rule him out for at least five matches. The timing couldn’t be worse for Barcelona, with key fixtures coming up in the Copa del Rey against Atlético Madrid and the Champions League quarter-final versus Borussia Dortmund.
Since joining Barcelona, Olmo has made 28 appearances, scoring eight goals and providing five assists, but he's also already missed 13 matches due to injuries or other fitness issues. And now, the latest setback could take that number close to 20 for the season.
This is far from a new problem for the former RB Leipzig midfielder. In fact, Olmo has now missed a staggering 75 matches over the last four seasons due to various injuries:
-
2023/24 (Barcelona): 13 matches missed so far, with more expected
-
2022/23 (Leipzig): 25 matches missed
-
2021/22 (Leipzig): 17 matches missed
-
2020/21 (Leipzig): 20 matches missed
At just 25 years old, Olmo still has plenty of football ahead of him, but unless he finds a way to stay consistently fit, his full potential might remain untapped. As Barcelona counts on him for the business end of the season, this latest injury raises fresh concerns about his long-term reliability.
