Levski Sofia are aiming high as they attempt to lure Tiemoué Bakayoko to Bulgaria in a surprising transfer move.
Currently sitting fourth in the Bulgarian championship, Levski are trailing leaders Ludogorets by 13 points but remain ambitious in strengthening their squad. The club, which was twice managed by Slovenian coach Slaviša Stojanović, has set its sights on a high-profile signing.
The target is none other than Tiemoué Bakayoko, who is currently at PAOK Thessaloniki. The French midfielder once had a bright future, having played for Rennes, Monaco, Chelsea, Milan, Napoli, and Lorient, even earning a call-up to the French national team. However, his career has lost momentum in recent years.
Levski see an opportunity to bring Bakayoko to Sofia following reports of a fallout between the player and PAOK coach Răzvan Lucescu. While they cannot afford a permanent transfer, the Bulgarian side is willing to take him on loan and cover up to half of his wages.
It remains to be seen whether this ambitious move will materialize, but Levski’s determination to land a player of Bakayoko’s pedigree signals their intent to make a statement in Bulgarian football.
