Arsenal faces Real Madrid with a growing injury list, including Gabriel, Jesus, Havertz, and Timber, leaving Mikel Arteta’s squad stretched just days before the Champions League showdown.
Arsenal are dealing with a major injury crisis just days before their Champions League clash with Real Madrid, with as many as seven players currently unavailable due to injury.
The North London club confirmed today that defender Gabriel Magalhães will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a thigh injury, adding to an already long list of sidelined players.
The full list of absentees includes Gabriel Jesus, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Magalhães, Riccardo Calafiori, Jurrien Timber, and Ben White.
Of the group, White is expected to return in the coming days, while Calafiori could also be fit later this month. The situation surrounding Timber remains uncertain after he sustained a knee injury in the recent match against Fulham. An update is expected in the next press conference.
The timing couldn’t be worse for Mikel Arteta, with his side set to host Everton in the Premier League on Saturday before taking on Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League tie at the Emirates on Tuesday.
Real Madrid, known for their ruthlessness in the final third, will look to exploit Arsenal’s defensive vulnerabilities as the Spanish giants prepare to face a depleted Gunners side.
