Argentinian footballer Erik Lamela (32) has agreed to a three-year contract with Greek club AEK Athens.
Erik Lamela, the 32-year-old Argentinian footballer, has agreed to a three-year deal with AEK Athens. According to Argentinian media, the former national team player is moving to Athens at the insistence of his compatriot, AEK's head coach Matias Almeida.
Almeida was the key factor in sealing the deal, serving as the main draw for AEK to attract a high-profile player like Lamela, who spent the last three seasons at Sevilla.
Before his time in Spain, Lamela played for Tottenham Hotspur for eight seasons.
Although Lamela’s career is not at its peak, and his best football years are behind him, he is still a player who can significantly contribute to any team.
Reports indicate that Lamela will receive a "substantial salary" at the Athens club.
