After Boca Juniors' controversial win against Talleres in the Argentine Cup, President of Talleres stormed into referees' room armed, angry over an uncalled out-of-bounds incident.
Argentine football is never short on drama, and this time it involved a match between Boca Juniors and Talleres in the Argentine Cup, which saw a heated incident off the pitch.
The match, won by Boca on penalties after a 1-1 draw, was overshadowed by a controversial goal. In the 14th minute, Brian Aguirre scored for Boca, but replays clearly showed that the ball had crossed the goal line for a goal kick before Aguirre gained possession. Despite this, the referees did not call it, and the goal stood, leading to much frustration.
Talleres managed to equalize but couldn’t secure a win, and Boca triumphed in the penalty shootout. The combination of the controversial goal and the penalty loss sparked chaos. After the match, the President of Talleres, Andreas Fassi, reportedly stormed into the referees' dressing room, armed with a pistol. Although he did not draw the weapon, it was visible in his waistband as he threatened the referees and accused them of match-fixing.
Fassi later claimed that the referees had attacked him first and vowed to file criminal charges against them for what he called an obvious robbery.
