César Huerta leaves Pumas for Anderlecht, signing a contract until 2028. The Mexican winger takes a big step in his European football career.
César 'Chino' Huerta’s future is decided. The 24-year-old Mexican winger will leave Pumas for the Clausura 2025 and sign with Anderlecht, the Belgian club currently sitting third in the Jupiler Pro League. Despite strong interest from Osasuna, Huerta chose Anderlecht, where he will reportedly sign a contract until 2028, with an option for an additional year.
Sources close to the situation confirmed that the deal will be finalized in the coming days. Although Osasuna initially prioritized Huerta and even had a conversation with him about building a project around his talents, the Spanish club could not secure an agreement. Anderlecht ultimately won the race, presenting a strong offer and an appealing opportunity for Huerta to take the next step in his European career.
Huerta’s decision was influenced by Anderlecht’s competitive position in the league—third, eight points behind leaders KRC Genk—as well as the financial terms of the deal.
The player reported for physical tests with Pumas as recently as December 26 but now departs after contributing significantly since joining the club in July 2022. In 87 matches for Pumas, Huerta scored 20 goals and provided 15 assists in 6,685 minutes of play, earning admiration from the fans for his passion and dedication.
