Former Italian international Antonio Cassano has ended a lengthy media silence to harshly critique AC Milan's leading star.
interview on the Italian national television station Rai. During his commentary on the match between Milan and Lecce, Cassano reserved particularly harsh criticism for Milan's scorer, Rafael Leao, suggesting the Portuguese forward, despite being one of Serie A's biggest stars, is significantly overrated.
"Leao thinks he's a genius, and some even agree with him. I consider him merely a good player and I stand by this opinion. Not scoring a single goal for five and a half months in a league as modest as Serie A is concerning. Years ago, he would struggle to play for a team ranked sixth or seventh," Cassano stated.
Cassano drew comparisons to English players Marcus Rashford in the previous season and Phil Foden in the current one, specifically highlighting the period from the end of September last year to the end of February this year, during which Leao didn't score any goals.
Leao has responded to Cassano's sharp comments, and his opinion on Cassano's criticisms can be seen below.
