Italian striker Mario Balotelli is training with Genoa and is close to sealing a return to Serie A, pending club approval.
Controversial Italian forward Mario Balotelli (34) is on the verge of signing with Genoa, according to reputable journalist Nicolo Schira. Balotelli has already started training with the Genoa squad, with club management expected to give the green light soon to fulfill coach Alberto Gilardino’s wish for the signing.
Balotelli has been without a club since leaving Adana Demirspor in June, where he scored seven goals and recorded one assist in 16 appearances last season. The Italian is eager for his return to Serie A, marking his comeback to Italy’s top flight after a three-year hiatus, which included stints at Adana Demirspor and Sion in Switzerland.
The former Inter, Milan, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Marseille player has a wealth of experience, having earned 36 caps and scored 14 goals for Italy. Genoa currently sits 18th in Serie A, with only six points from eight matches, facing a relegation battle in the season ahead.
